Pictures from HD-camcorder

HD-video recording.

Since last I have flown a number of flights. The aircraft has performed well.

RTF autopilot is tested and seems to be working. The plain turns and comes back to me, and then circling over me.

The aircraft was a little bit unstable in windy conditions, so I wanted to make it a little more forward heavy.
The solution to it was to fit my modified Toshiba P-10 camcorder in the nose. (See HD-FPV blogg for a description of the rebuilding.)

With this camera in the front, center of gravity on the plane was better, and I got HD video recording from the plane as I have wished for a long time.

See HD video for my HD recording.

I'll post pictures of the plane with HD camera later.

Modification of video glasses.

I had problems with video glasses last weekend when I flew.
The picture fell out several times, and finally was completely black. Fortunately I had with me several spotters, in addition to the extra passenger monitors connected.
Since I already had the error on the glasses I chosed to modify the glasses same way as Dadde at www.rcexplorer.com had done.

Glasses were dismantled, the power box was dismantled, and all connecting plugs removed. I soldered servo cables between the glasses and the power box, and soldered a simple video cable from the glasses to a female RCA jack. Previously the video signal passed through the power box, via several connectors and thin cables, it's okay to get rid of all those.

To make the glasses would sit better fixed on the head, and to avoid having a hat down over my face to shield from daylight, the glasses were spectacles mounted inside some slalom-glasses.
This looks very good so far! Looking forward to testfly the solution.

Pictures...

I have tested the plane a bit.

Autopilot modes do not work satisfactory yet, but expect to have to wait until nearer the summer when it becomes lighter and warmer outside.

I still had some great flights, including this one with lots of gliding:
Gliding video

Since last I have installed Y-thermophile.
RVOSD use this to see what is up or down on the plane. This prevents auto-pilot to try to fly upside down.

There are some settings on RVOSD to get everything to work correctly, and I feel like I might have needed an English to Norwegian dictionary for some of the parameters of the menu.
It could also be that I'm not so good at plain terminology. :O)

I post some pictures I have taken since last time, and in addition, some of which I will use the rangevideo forum.

New test of camera and OSD.

After having asked for advice on Rangevideo's forum, I've set camera settings back to default, and then sat the camera like Vova REZNIK's camera on his video on Vimeo.

I have also disable thermopil sensors.

I tested the aircraft at the weekend.

Everything went fine, the picture was much better, but had the slightest hint of blue when I flew toward the mountains as the sun is behind. The sun is so low now on the days that we do not see it in Håkvik longer.

I tested the autopilot too, this almost crashed the plane. The plane turned upside down, and went vertically down. Fortunately I got off this quickly.

This should not be tested again before I have Z-sensor in place.

The first test flight with RVOSD og DX-201.

The first test flight with RVOSD and DX-201. The screen was blue and with poor resolution. Must find out what makes this. It was not so during testing at home before and after.

Flight went very well, the 2 engines provide tremendous driving force to the plane.

I should change to smaller propeller as soon as I get them. The engines drew 80 amps at most, it was at take off.

I've also have to do more settings on RVOSD.

I had the wrong settings on the IR sensors, so that the artificial horizon showed all the reverse. That I did not notice until I got home, so it was very good that the autopilot had not been enabled, it had gone very wrong.

Mounted microphone.

Since the DX-201 doesn't have built-in microphone. I bought an active microphone for $ 1 on ebay. I cut away a heavy cable and connectors, and soldered directly to VTX Cable.
